Is Rebel Racing still around?

I am considering going to a coilover setup and Rebel Racing looks promising with some nice stuff. Needing some advice on spring rates etc, I have tried contacting them via email and no response. Phone calls go to voice mail that states the mailbox is full. Either business is really good or really bad. Anyone know the scoop? Thanks

i would recommend to just keep calling until you get clint on the phone. not the best way to run a business, but he's responsive when you get a hold of him.

This ^ - I sent them an email and left vm afterwards. Got a call the same day and placed my order over the phone. This is the first time I do business with them and have no complaints with the transaction.

This is what I ordered. It was waiting for me at home when I got back.

I placed an order with them back in Feb over the phone, and Clint was very friendly and helpful. I received most of the parts very quickly, although there was some shipping damage on some of the parts. He was also quick about swapping those out, although I had to pay for the return shipping. I have been waiting for the front torsion bars since then, and was not able to get any response about their whereabouts via email to any of their addresses. I just received them, but they are the wrong part. (solid instead of hollow) I haven't been able to get a response via email, and when you call their #'s there is no answer, and the VM box is full so I can't leave a message. I'm bummed, as the parts are beautiful and he seems like a nice guy. They just can't seem to get the business part together.

I really have no idea what I was charged for either, as I can't seem to get them to send an itemized invoice for my order. I'm thinking I may just use the solid bars, but I have no clue if I was charged for the hollows.

Guys, many thanks for your responses. I think I'll hold off on any ordering for a while. I want to see if their customer service/availability improves before moving forward. Nothing worse than being at a distance with no (apparent) way to contact a seller if a problem arises. Hopefully all will work out for anyone left hanging.

Just for the record, I was also going to give Rebel a shot but based on threads here I placed ~$4000 in parts orders elsewhere, including our host.

I used Rebel - great products. Yes, Clint is hard to get ahold of. However, Clint gave me a discount. ER never gives anything - at least when I asked for quotes. I converted to all coilovers, which included: new shocks, coilover kits, new bushings, new RSR spring plates, mono bearings, sway bars, rear shock reinforcement brackets and tri-angular struct bar.

This was a decent order, at least I thought so. But list was the cost from ER. That part bothered me.

Very sad, it takes years of hard work and dedication to build a reputation/business and you can kill it within a very short time by ignoring your customers. After several tries, I finally reached Clint on the phone about 4 weeks; I was interested in having him rebuild/restore a complete set of 930 Calipers. One of the bolts was frozen and it took several weeks to remove the last caliper. After following the Rebel saga on this site for a couple of weeks, I felt that I needed to speak Clint before sending him the calipers. Two calls were never returned so I decided to play it safe and sent them off to PMB the end of last week.

Our business is the U.S. Warranty, Service Center and U.S. Distributor for a major instrument manufacturer; all phone calls and e-mails are always answered the same business day that they are received (wether it's an inquiry, compliment or complaint); it's probably why our business volume has quadrupeled over the last 7 years.

I agree, it seem that if I buy a full set up, except for the shipping, the price is the same of adding up all the individual parts. One would think there would be some kind of "Package Discount".

But I must say, I bought a couple of Elephant Racing 30mm Tube Replacement nut and its been dry ever, well worth the $50 per. Porsche 911 (1965-1973) - Oil Circulation - Page 6

Now for all of you that think Porsche Part are expensive, we spare 1st Level stud for submarine @ $200 a piece... but if you are a at DDSTP you don't want to rely to have the Chinese version on the Flood Valve

I know this thread was not started to become a debate on who is better from a customer service standpoint so I won't get into the whole ER vs Rebel Racing. I think stories like this go a long way in how many folks decide who to do business with when it comes to buying parts for their cars. One company might be really good at providing a quality product at a very reasonable price but it takes sometimes weeks to actually speak to them and not because of a game of phone tag, it takes a person that many tries to get that company to answer the phone. Another company offers virtually the same product at a slightly higher price but answers the phone every single time and returns emails promptly...you may not like the price but you really appreciate the availability and the service you get.
I am a Mercedes Benz service advisor just outside Washington DC, I have been there 16 years and my phone rings nonstop from 7:30am-6:00pm. Washington DC is an extremely competitive market in that within a 25 mile radius of my store there are 6 other Mercedes Benz dealerships and countless independents. One of the biggest pet peeves my service director has is when he gets a call from a customer that says they have been trying to reach so and so and haven't gotten a call back. Call backs are absolutely critical, it's how you gain credibility, it's how you get a reputation that carries you through the lean times, it's what helps keep your phone ringing. This forum is filled with threads just like brighton911's. These are the ones that we hear about, but just think how many guys out there that have tried and tried and tried to get in touch with a particular company and not get a call back. As a result they quietly stop calling and look for the next person or the next company and just because they answer the call or return a v/m or reply back to an email they win that persons business.
Again, this is not a comparison of who's better, it's an observation of what would you rather do, call & call & call only to have a message box full or call and have the phone call answered or v/m returned. Maybe it is time to find a suitable alternative.

Everyone has to do better.

Amazon.com is now handling a lot of Porsche parts. Any number of retailers have an eBay store. A friend of mine has an eBay parts store and ships 60,000 packages a month through eBay. That's in addition to his normal business.

Things are changing.

I ordered a bump steer kit from Tarett and it was made by Rebel Racing.

Nice product.

This could be another way to shop.

Cheers

In the fall I ordered a front RSR bushing kit from Rebel, no email conf. no shipping info, nothing. But.. it showed up ten days later. This winter when I started gathering parts for my spring time rear suspension job, I took my experiance and the stories of others here at heart and ordered parts months in advance. Again no emails of any sort but the parts showed up five days later! Lol.. Of course none of this helps if you have a tech question or your order is totally MIA.

I would bet, if Rebel hired someone(even part-time) to just answer the phone and handle basic communication(non-technical) the increase in sales would easily pay for that employee. It's a shame seeing this happen to a company with great products. I guess the owner must be financially stable enough that he's not worried if his company tanks.

It's pretty unanimous here but I'll also add, 99% of the time I call Elephant with a question or order Chuck himself answers the phone. He literally must be on the phone all day!

Clint did have someone to answer the phones for a while but he flaked out and things returned to normal. I have helped previously in a part time fashion but now that I have a full time job 250 miles away I can't really do anything more than call him and I started to have the same trouble as everyone else so I'm not helping anymore.

Seems he is still busy with strut mods and things. I know he had some family medical issues last year that were complicating things, haven't heard how things are going currently though.
