Old A/C Parts have any value
I just upgraded the a/c in my 87 Carerra with a Kuehl evaporator and the round part that goes in the drivers wheel well - name escapes me right now.
Questions Should I keep either of these parts for originality sake? I got them back and the evaporator leaks as you can see oil and build up on it but I was not sure I should keep it to have with the car if I ever go to sell the car at some point in the future? Not sure if they are worth anything but my car is mostly stock and I plan to keep it that way. By the way the a/c actually works now! This is a huge plus! The guy in Orange County that did the work D & S Auto Air did an excellent job at going through the whole system. |

Toss both. The R/D is often replaced and the evaporator is not easily visible.

Still here

I would keep the old parts.
If anything, it would counter the 'nonoriginality' complaint from potential buyers in the future. How much did the install cost you ? |

Say what you want, folks paying a ton of cash want an original car. I do.

Nick and Pmax, the a/c receiver/dryer is a disposable, wear item (like an engine oil filter is), and the evaporators from that year are an ill conceived unit known to leak sooner or later (copper and aluminium tubes which are bonded together and the bond does not last) - you guys would actually see value in those for originality's sake?
* Not trying to be a jackass here (well, just a little bit), but I've just never heard of saving disposable parts, and/or ones that are junk, to maintain originality. Last edited by Ronnie's.930; 04-12-2015 at 01:27 PM.. |

The dryer, located in the driver's fender is trash, no doubt about it. The evaporator could theoretically be flushed, blasted with compressed air and thoroughly cleaned, and bent fins corrected with a radiator fin comb, but frankly it is not worth it.
