73 Right side mirror
Can someone tell me who sells the reproduction right side mirror found on the 72 and 73 model 911"s. I know they were available and would like to get one for my 73. you can direct findings direct to me or the whole group as there might be someone else that might be looking. I remember Jack got one a while back

I am sure that the mirror is not handed and can be fitted to both sides. The problem is that the driver can't see anything in the passenger mirror!

Nope,
The square mirror is handed, and was never made as a RHD version by the factory. That is why the RHD cars have the round driver side mirror. GeorgeK |

There is a repro version made for the RH side. I have one of these mirrors, but have not installed it. I bought it from a small outfit called David Honl Company. It is a cheap Taiwan imitation of the original german mirror, and it comes with NO gasket or hardware!!!
There is also an early BMW mirror that is similar, not identical that comes in a RH version. I saw one of these first on an early S at Parade some years back and it looked pertty good, and was at least German quality. I think it was an early 2002 mirror, or something from that era. Still available. As I have both of these mirrors, I will shoot some photos and post them later ...

I bought a repro LH recently from...not sure maybe Zimms in the Dallas area. It is decent and when comparing it to the factory unit (dented) it looks very close to original but not quite. It came with hardware and gasket. There is also a RH available...call Zimms and see if they can help.
I noticed Jack O. w/ BBII has a RH mirror you could ask him where he sourced his.

The early BMW mirror is the way to go, I know that Dick at Pristine has a lead on them.

My 73 came with the original left hand mirror, and I added the Honl reproduction. I'm not sure if it's available anymore.
I like the look of the smaller mirrors, but -- especially on the right side -- I found the Honl reproduction to be just about useless. It's just too small. So, now I have the 74-75 rectangular stainless mirrors. They look the same, only slightly larger. I believe there were passenger's side ones available, although they're not easy to find. But the aftermarket version of the larger-sized mirror is supposedly much better quality. In my opinion, unless strictly maintaining the original look is your priority, the slightly larger 74-75 mirrors are a better choice.

Jack, I really wish you would stop posting porn on this site.!
Man, your car rocks! btw, I hope you found the replacement for your glass or another mirror.Anyway, yea, I noticed that the scanned images showed the fact that you are supposed to install it back of the driver's side mirror. Mine is not, and I can't see anything using it. But, I think it looks better to have two than one. More balance IMHO.

A right-hand mirror has been on back-order from our sponsor for over one year with no decent answer to my queries. Just, we'll look into it and no follow-up answer.
I noticed that Sierra-Madre Collection has them on their site but I have not queried them to see if they are in stock. Best, Tom |

I have an extra 72-73, still in wrap, I'll dig it out and post pic. You can have it for whatever I have into it.
