Need Drivers Door Mirror Mount Template Help! (70-71)
Hey Guys,
At some point in time a previous owner welded up the original holes on my 71 to install SC mirrors. I am bringing it back to original specs and cant see the holes where the original Durant mirror went. If anyone with a 70-71 (maybe 69? 72-73? although I know these are flag mirrors) can take a pic and some basic measurements so I know where to drill and how big of a hole I need to drill would be awesome! Thanks I appreciate the help! ![]() Nick |

Hi Nick, I don't know whether the attached picture helps you out:
![]() Further to that when you open the door and look at the area behind where the mirror will be located you should see a pair of holes through the frame of the door which enable you to the nuts and washers that are needed to mount the mirror. You should be able to identify the location by using the picture and the holes in the steelwork. I hope that helps. Cheers, Neil |

Thanks Neil, do you have a shot of the drivers side? Unfortunately, the holes that were there originally have been blown out to larger holes for modern SC mirrors. I don't even know what the original mounting holes are supposed to look like...or how many are there.

Hi Nick, no I don't have one available to me here at work. I can take a picture this evening. My car has a pair of Durant mirrors. (BTW that is my driver's side - I am in NZ so my car is RHD).
I will post a picture this evening of the LHS and maybe of inside the door to give you some guidance. Cheers, Neil |

Here's my 1970 Driver's door. Wait until you get your mirror to drill, but I only had to use the front and rear of these holes.
The passenger door mirror (when optionally present) is intentionally not in the same place, since the viewing angle from the driver's seat is different. (Although in that picture posted by Neilnaz it looks like it is in the same place. I think the passenger side should be further up and further back. EDIT: I see he's got a RHD car, so it's correct for him.) ![]() Mike

Mine's all 1970, but had undergone some 'improvements' when I got it. Now it's back to more or less original. It's a targa, but you know, until now I didn't appreciate that the opening wing window was a targa/coupe difference that year. Thanks for pointing it out!

Awesome! Thanks guys! Would you say the holes are roughly 1.5 inches from the top of the door?
Trying to get an idea here. |

There are access holes on the inner panel that should provide an excellent guide to drilling the outer panel.
