Sachs Insert into Boge Strut??

Have a friend, trying to cheap his way through a refresh on a 77 Porsche 911. He clearly has BOGE front struts, but bought SACHS inserts.

Will the SACHS fit and work with BOGE struts? There is no roll pin like Bilsteins at the bottom, so suspect its a large nut holding in the insert. What about removal and seals, would the insert fit the same way?

He's on the right path

I just did this upgrade on my '77 and the Boge struts had an integrated shock. It turned out to be easier than I suspected.
First Boge and Sachs (from everything I could see) are the same company. The write ups and tech articles provide good direction. The inserts supplied by our host are a perfect fit.
You will find an issue once you get the large nut off the strut. I had to buy some very large channel locks which did the trick.
Once off you will find a lot of oil inside so have paper towels handy. The whole process is straightforward and once done, the ride improvement was outstanding.

Good luck.

Ah forgot to ask... What, how, and how much oil do you put back into the Strut with the new insert?

It's a strut insert, You take out the old, drain the leaked fluid from the old one and slide the new one in place and tighten the gland nut. Don't freak out when the gland nut doesn't seat all the way against the strut housing like the old one did.
