Euromeister 17's

I have searched but haven't been able to find the answers to a couple of questions on wheel and tire sizes for 17". Thinking about the Euromeister 17's if they show up.

I have a '77 with SC flares, can i run the following:

7x17et23.3 fronts (what would be max tire size)
9x17et15 rears (what would be max tire size)

Is a 2" difference between front and rear wheels any cause for concern or should i go with the 8x17et10.6 on the rears.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I think since the Euromeister 17's are so new--no one has even seen them, much less put tires on them--that all the sage wisdom givers on this board are withholding judgement on them. That being said, if you want to keep the rolling diameter the same with the 17's as you have with your current wheels (and you probably do) than the largest tire to install will come down to what fits within that parameter. You'll definitely need a shorter sidewall. I am going with a 225/40 on 7x17's, to match the current 225/45 16's I have. It's not a perfect swap, but it's close enough. 225/40 17 tires are few and far between though.

I am interested to see how the Porsche community handles these wheels, considering the $$$$$ everyone has, here to now, spent on making 17" Fuchs. And how it's going to effect the "Big Name" Fuchs builders we all know and love here.

In terms of tires to match 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear you would need to get tire sizes 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear. A 245/40/17 could also work. I think that with the SC or Carrera flares this should be no issue (I know several people running those on 17 in wheels). However, it depends on the actual tire and in some cases you may want to roll the fender or use a bit more camber, especially when lowered a lot.

To run anything larger than a 225 in the rear you definitely want to go with the 9 in in the rear and I think staying with the 7 in front will work.

But until somebody has the wheels and installs actual tires, we won't know for sure.

Thanks,
Kay

i got on list for the 7-9x17 wheels. i got 10% off less than 700.00 dollars shipped for the 4 wheels. at that price what the hell. the used 16 inch euromiesters are more than that . i have a set of 15x8,15x7 fuchs ,can't find the right size rear tires. the 16x9 same thing . i have seen euromiester fuchs replica's and they were nice i thought. the original fuchs 8-9 wide are getting just 2 expensive. i hope they come in next month as they said, if not i have plenty of time.

Please post a full side-on picture of the car with them on when you get them.

It will help those of use who might be headed in that direction some sort of idea on how they might look.

They'll fit fine
don't worry about a 2" difference f/r but if you do use 8' ET25-31in front and keep the 9's in back

Thanks Bill, I've read through quite a few of your posts and you certainly are the wheel/offset guru, any issue with 225's on the 7's in front?

Discontinued? Are you sure about that? Makes no sense since they haven't even been released into the wild yet. If truly discontinued, then I'm bewildered with the reason as to why. Can you confirm any more info regarding these wheels?

I just think the guy that talk to me on the phone said "discontinued" but are not even released or new...

I email them to know as I want a set.

I'll let you know.

like I said in the other thread, it would be great if these actually happen.

but I'll believe it when I see it - as in, see actual wheels on an actual car.

You might be right...

Heres the response so you can expect delays:

These items are not discontinued, but we do not expect to have these before mid April; that may be why you were told they were discontinued. We have found a new company that will start making these for us; the other one was unable to supply. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Regards,

Linda

Originally I was told available as of March 21, then March 31, now they say mid-April. I think it could be a while before we see these.

Are you going to mount tires and get them on the car right away?
