Front wheel hub help
I'm trying to identify this hub, it's on my 1975 carrera but I don't think its stock. It's currently using 965 front rotors which slip over the front of this hub. I want to get dust caps for them but want to make sure I get the right ones. I tried googling the part numbers but didn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Date stamp says 85 but would need to see the other side to see if it's standard or turbo

Ok I never realized that was a date stamp on there. That helps narrow it down a little. It's back on the car at the moment, I don't really want to take it all apart again. Can you tell me what to look for to determine if it's a turbo or not?

On a turbo hub, the spindle nut will be recessed into the hub and you have to go through hole in the side of the hub to get to the adjusting nut.
What number is your Carrera? |

OK thanks, my hub doesn't have the recessed slot for accessing the clamping spindle nut. So would that make it a regular 944 then?
My Carrera is #29 but not one of the desirable ones, it a US Carrera I believe. VIN 9115400029 also no longer numbers matching, quite far from stock.

Wow thats a beauty Carrera!!! I wish I could convert mine back to stock! Original motor is long gone 2 owners previous, now has steel turbo flares and most suspension replaced with aftermarket. Original mileage is unknown. Probably not worth anything more than a 911 hotrod to someone.

My understanding is the 944 and 911 use the same dust caps. I believe the trick to using the 965, or other Porsche slip-on front rotors, in this way is the 944 hub is machined down on the outer diameter to make a hubcentric fit with the rotor hat inside diameter

I don't think my hubs have been machined but the 965 rotor slides over and fits perfectly. I"m going to borrow a dust cap from a friend tonight and see if it fits.

Might be the 914 cap i'm thinking of and not the 944. Look up the parts diagrams for 944 and 911 (porsche.com has them under Porsche Classic) and it looks like the 944 wheel hub cap is a different part number and uses a lock washer to retain it?

Perfect, I found the part, its a 944 hub that has been machined or worn on the backside and the part number is partially missing, but now that I can see the official part number for that part, I know that the right part.
Thanks again!!
