Installing koni fronts....

I am going to be replacing my koni front strut inserts this weekend on my '75 targa. Any tips on the process? So it's removal of the top gland nut- what do I need to remove on the bottom of the strut housing to pull the insert out? Is it just a pin at the bottom that holds the insert inside the housing?

Thanks guys

Its pretty easy, but now is the time to replace the ball joint as well.

No pin on the Konis, that's for Bilsteins. No need to remove anything but the wheel and the top nut on the strut to get the dust cover off and get at the gland nut. The large gland nut on top of the strut is what holds the insert in place.

Is it that easy on 3.2 pcar?

Quick question- it shows my 75 came with koni's originally so I bought replacement koni's. The struts I removed were black and had "made in Venezuela" on them. couldnt find a name stamped anywhere- were these boge inserts? Or an off brand?

Yes, pretty straight forward. Just make sure you loosen the brake line brackets as not to damage it when pulling the strut down and out of the fender. Oh yeah put a heavy rag at the top of the strut so you don't dent the fender. Ask me how I know?

You will have to show some pics. Lots of changes, different brands over the years.

+1 make absolutely sure of the part number. VIN is not always reliable if PO upgraded it like mine to an 86+ front struts with strut housing glan nut on the outside. So annoying, had to pay a re-stock fee and shipping to order the correct one.

It's a koni strut for sure. I'll dig the inserts out of the trash. I reused the gland nuts that were on the housing.
