'87 wipers plain suck

The problem is the curve of the windshield. Does anyone make a modern blade-style wiper in 13" that will fit our cars?

PIAA? I replaced my Bosch ones with these and they seem to work better in my opinion. Haven't had them long enough to know how they last.

They last quite well. I put a set of PIAAs on my car (stock 10") 3 years back, they are still quite good. Utterly silent, don't get hard over the Summer.

Yes, get the PIAA silicone wipers! Excellant, they don't age and get brittle like rubber and they don't squeak or chatter. The silicone "lubes" the windshield and run smoother the more they are used. A little bit pricer than rubber, but will last 4-5 times as long!
They won't solve the poor fit to the curved windshield, but I don't think there are any that will!

A few easy things to check:

Lightly lube every pivot point. Bicycle chain lube works great.

If you don't have them, switch the arms for the later type twin spring version.

Get SWF blades. They work better from the get-go than the Bosch ones, and last longer.

Change them regularly, cost is small compared to,the stresss of not seeing where you go at speed.

I drive my car fall and winter only, and this is the result of 5 years experimenting

Rubber blades are a waste of money. Silicone blades have an almost unlimited lifespan. I use Silblades on all my vehicles. No more "first rain of the season and they don't work".

Try using Rain-x I love it no wipers needed (if you're moving).

Frameless or framed? Where are you finding these- the PIAA site is a mess.

I was always curious if moving the parking position of the wipers to the right side of the car fixed the 'curved windshield ruins wiper blade' problem? I would think at least the drivers side wiper would stay in better shape.

I want to move my wipers but I'm also concerned that this will leave more rain on the glass in front of me when in light rain (intermittent wipers) situations.

Another thing that helps wipers is to get a new windshield - I replaced mine a few years ago and it made a huge difference. Now, I'm replacing it every 10 years as routine maintenance.

I sure could use those silicone wipers in Atlanta today!!!

It moves the sucky wiper to the passenger side. I parked mine on the passenger side and the drivers side is pretty good now. I'm contemplating buying an extra set of arms and tinkering with them to see if I can get a longer blade to clear more of the windshield yet still not extend beyond the side. I feel the stock blade doesn't clear enough of the windshield for a guy 6'1 in the drivers seat.
I'll see if I can remember to take a picture of the windshield wet then run the wiper and show the path that it clears.

Here's how mine clear the windshield. Hope this comes through the way it looks on my laptop.

i'm running just a single wiper on the driver's side. can't recall the wiper size off the top of my head, but it's significantly longer than the stock one and clears almost to the top of the windshield.
