What have you done to extend your original steering wheel for better position?
I´ve got a 911 SC built in 1982 and I like the original steering wheel. What I not like is the actual seat position. If you are over 6 feet high you have to stretch your arms very much.
I know there is an original steering wheel with a spacer (M018) but there is no chance to get one. The last one in Ebay was sold for nearly 1.000 $. How have you solved this problem? Do you use some handmade spacer and how do you made them? Thanks for your responds and best regards. |
You can find 6-hole spacer/adapters all over the Internet. I bought the J-West offset adapter (sold here on PP) which extends and raises the steering wheel. Recommended.

I made my own:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429634360.jpg

I'm 6'2", added 1.25" wheel hub spacer (tough to see but it's there) and the deep dish momo. The car fits me as intended, perfectly.
Recently drove a friends '83 and I forgot how much I missed crushing my knuckles:rolleyes: into the windscreen http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429637119.jpg |

JWest spacer paired to a 3" spacer. At 6'5" this gives me an amazing driving position.

Thanks a lot for your replays.
Charles, your solution is very interesting also the link. I´m not sure I think there are two possibilities: 1) I copy Charles solution 2) I cut the original fastener and welding a spacer between the fastener and the steering wheel The other solutions like JWest spacer are only for aftermarked steering wheels, isn´t it? |

Pretty sure it is only for Momo wheels. |
At 6'3". I use a 2" spacer and flat dished Momo wheel.
Ergonomics make the car great. The problem is that once you move the wheel you will want to move the shifter... |
The factory extended wheel doesn't really command more on the market.
They are fairly common, too. You'll find one for $150-$200 if you look around a little and give it a little time. |
