Whole car dolly w/a twist.....
Good morning all,
I have found quite a bit of information through my research about "body" carts for when people are doing full restoration work and that has provided good points on where to hold the car from below and also different options for the cart design. My question is has anyone done a body cart or whole car dolly with a fully assembled 911? I have found a few examples on Google but they are all muscle cars. I am fully aware that the architecture of our car presents challenges that others do not face. The reason I ask; is that last year I stored my 86 Carrera on wheel dollies which worked okay for just getting it out the way but it was hard to move and also limited my ability to work on the car a great deal. I want to have the car mobile but also have the wheels off and have the car up in the air so I can work through the winter without moving too much stuff around my small 2 car garage (wife's X5 is parked in there full time). I am handy with welding and metal fab so I am sure I will be able to design and build something but I wanted to see if anyone had any examples or designs they have used or seen specific to a 911. Thank you for any input you can provide! |
