What is this wire for: interior edition.
The previous owner did some questionable wiring with these two cables.
I'm building a race car, so I don't know if I even need to keep them. What do they do? One runs into the rear firewall and one runs into the tunnel before the access panel. The firewall cable runs all the way to the front of the car, and The tunnel cable went to the dashboard somewhere. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Ds1; 04-26-2015 at 11:31 AM.. |

Fairly certain the one on the tunnel is for the the parking brake warning light. The cable through the rear firewall is a mystery to me.

Its a 1982 SC.
I think the firewall one is for the cruise control? |

Wire.
Where does the white wire terminate within the engine compartment?
This braided white pair does not look factory. On the M/Y '84, there is only one white wire going from the tempostat pin # 3, to the tempostat relay pin # 30.

Yes I doubt it's factory. Tempostat as in the automatic heat control? Why would that run into the firewall though?
I can't see where it terminates in the engine compartment but I'll keep searching. |

I think you'll find that it's a factory wire harness. It probably goes to the temp sensor in a heater flapper box. It feeds the heat exchanger air temp to the auto heat controller.

The gray twisted one looks like the speedo sensor. Look for it on the side of the tranny. ~1" round "puck".

Java dog, you were right, bing bing bing!!
The other one in the center console might be for the cruise control... The PO had it hooked up to a mysterious aftermarket switch mounted in the dash, which was wired with speaker cable (eek!). Any more input is appreciated, it's tough to see in the engine compartment. |

You might want to consider better pictures. The one in the center console could be a couple different things, all you show is the black sleeve around the wires. What's inside the sleeve? 2 yellow wires and brown one?

Yes exactly, two yellow and a brown.
Sorry for bad pics, we were doing tons of interior work to the car yesterday so I was just trying to make a quick post. |

Those will probably be the wires for the heater blower motor.

Java,
Ah that would make sense - the engine compartment blower right? That was deleted before I bought the car, which would make sense why I'm having a tough time finding the other end. (I did get underneath and trace the wire but all I can tell is it runs into the right side of the engine compartment). Thanks everyone! |
