How to mount hood badge?

Seems so simple but is there a trick to getting the the little rivet things onto the pins that hold the badge?

Santa got me a new orange bar hood emblem that looks fantastic. Just don't know how to get the tabs on the underside of the hood to go on securely.

Many Thanks,

Chris

Superglue to hold the gasket in 3-4 spots .
A 1/4" drive 12" extension with blu-tak in the socket , or masking tape to hold the nut while you start it .

+1 OEM should be 2 speed nuts. If a shop worked on it, it may be epoxied

I use a nut driver. Looks like a screw driver, but the working end of the screw driver is a small drive socket that accepts the nut holding the hood emblem. My nut driver is a 1/4" drive and will accept most 1/4" drive sockets.

The nut driver w/socket fits up into the small openings on the underside of the hood. It's a piece of cake, but you need the proper tool.

Be sure not to over tighten the speed nut. It could crack the face and/or break the stud off.

There are usually rubber grommets inside those metal speed nuts. Over time these get gummy and wear out. I have always just used a small dab of Permatex gasket glue to hold the grommet in place and lightly tighten down the speed nut by hand until they are snug. You should only have to do this once every 20+ years, unless you plan on painting your hood every few year. So make sure that you use a nice emblem gasket on the front side and line it up correctly with the hood badge, before tightening...
