3.2 Stolen from Inion City, CA REWARD
Hi guys,
So... I buy a '73.5 Targa that was packaged with a 3.2 and a 915 tranny. The engine and tranny were not in the car. The car was picked up and shipped to my shop infamous, FL. The engine however didn't make it. Long story short, the engine and tranny, after a couple of attempts to pick up, disappeared. The seller figured the shipper had picked it up, and the shipper can't locate it and arrived at the conclusions that it must have been stolen. If anyone has any info on an engine being sold in or around the Union Coty l, CA area, please contact me at 786-587-3991 or at ralph@eccparts.com. If I'm able to recover the engine, I'll give a $500 reward. The serial number is 64H01153 Don't have one for the tranny, but it's missing a huge chunk on the bellhousing making it easy to identify. Thanks in advance.

Oh geez, shipper owes you an engine and gear box.
Which company was it so we do not use them?

My gut tells me the shipper is not at fault here. They were out there to pick it up, but it wasn't ready for them. Once it was ready, it was gone. Rather not give their name as they are a reputable company, and I don't want them to get any backlash for something I really think they didn't do.

Oh I see, then it is the seller that owes you an engine. My gosh, what a headache.
I bet it will show up on Craigslist.

The seller is responsible for it until it changes hands with the shipper. How can he say "he thought the shipper took it." Is it just laying out for anyone to take? Shippers deal with paperwork and signatures when things are picked up and dropped off.

Agreed. Seller bears the entire responsibility of securing the goods until releasing to carrier. Carrier normally reviews pickup and originator/seller signs acknowledgement for transaction of handing off the goods... standard industry practice with invoices and the like.
