1973 1/2 oil hose problem
Am I the only one with this problem?
In 1973 the tube from the other side of the engine all the way to the oil tank was in one piece and has to be replaced with this two piece hose + tube. ( 1974 onwards) I have now bought a new hose from two different places here in Europe and both have the same problem, 25 mm too long and in my opinion the connection to the oil tank should be 45 degree angle, not straight. Is the hose just poor quality or is the oil tank from 1973 1/2 somehow different ? ![]() ![]() |

Chang the angle on the forward end attached to the steel pipe. And if needed bend or put a longer bolt w/spacer to move steel oil pipe to move it a little more forward.

I have tried both, but it did not help much, the hose still folds inwards.
The hose is NBR rubber, seize 22 X 4,5 but i do not know if it has any reinforcements. I wonder if the Porsche original part has a more stiff hose? Hydraulic repair shops could not help as the thread on the nuts are different from those used in hydraulic connections. |

You can cut the crimped ferrule off with a dremel, be careful with the hose! shorten the hose and then have a new ferrule crimped on by your local shop or use Oetiker clamps as I did to replace a rusty ferrule. See pics below. The are very strong and you can use 2 of them on this application.

Thanks Jon,that could work.
If I on top of that, could find a thin coil spring to insert into the hose, it would not fold in anymore. (I donīt know if springs like that exist.) |

I would stay away from an internal spring. You could find on that fits over the outside or just find a short piece of rubber hose that fits over as well. Both would add stiffness and be easy to implement. In fact you could prolly do that without cutting. Find the right size thT would fit over, slice it length wise, put over hose and secure with tie wraps.

Sorry to Hi-Jack, but Brother Jon,
Did those clamps work for your leaks at the flex lines? Jim

Yup, they hold as good as a crimped ferrule.
