1986 3.2 Carrera - My entry into Porsche ownership

Good day folks. I am new around here. I have been lurking for some time as I have been on the hunt for the right car to purchase. After passing on several sub par vehicles, I pulled the trigger on this:
The plan is to fix all of the little items that need attention and just enjoy driving it. I might make a few minor improvements along the way, but nothing major. The issues that came up:
Upgrades I would like to do in the very near future:
On with the pics. The car is very clean and I absolutely love the color combo. I am no stranger to the automotive hobby, though this is my first foray into Porsche ownership. Anyone curious, feel free to check out the build thread I have going on my Pro Touring 73 Z/28. I will undoubtedly have many questions for everyone going forward as I learn my way through the ins and outs of an aircooled 911. 73 Camaro Z/28 Type LT (Massive scope creep inside) - Lateral-g Forums

Nice car!!!!! Good luck with it. For the seats try some contact cleaner take the switch cover off and spray with the cleaner. Switches should come back to life. It's a common thing. You can get the hood and trunk struts from pelican. Yes put some fuchs on it 7s&8s x16 will look great.

Noted on the mats! Also, already ordered the hood and trunk struts along with some oil filters and a Bentley manual. Last edited by dipren443; 01-01-2015 at 08:06 PM..

If you peruse my Camaro build thread, you will see I am well versed in scope creep. This car is really too nice to go too in depth though, so I won't be turning this into a big project. Only bolt ons. I am keeping an eye out for that Porsche bug!

I am sure this is the first of many questions I will have along the way as I learn this car... How many different version of headlight trim rings are there? I got a hold of these from a guy selling a small lot of SC parts. They are obviously not sugar scoops. Would these be correct for an H4 conversion? Is there any way to tell if they are OEM? I do not see any part markings on them.

I think those would work for an H4 conversion. They look like the rings on my 87. Where did you find the car? Terry

The car was listed on Autotrader Classics. It was in New Jersey, so as soon as I saw it listed, I went to look at it. Put a deposit on it right away. The car is clean from top to bottom.

Primered trim covers for H1 & H4 have a single hole at the bottom for mounting screw, and no other holes. H5 rings have holes to access the adjusters.

Really great car and beautiful color combo. Your PPI items are generally simple , save the suspension related items, so that sounds like an awesome car and well cared for. I would say you should take some time with the current shifter before racing to a Wevo or another short shift kit. Maybe do a bushing refresh. Learning how to drive the 915 transmission is part of the fun and challenge associated with these cars ( IMO, of course). In any case, you're gonna love it. Enjoy.
