Post newbie color question

hi all,

The previous owner told me the car is venetian blue (88 cab). I looked under the front "trunk" area on the opposite side of the porsche crest and I see the color code to be L36P. Looking on page 96 of Paternies' red book it does not list a color L36P. The book does list venetian blue as 35U.

Here's a picture of my car. Venetian blue was an option for 87-88. Am I looking at the right place for the color code?

Thanks for any info in advance.

I always check the paint code at the lt door hinge pillar, that metal tag has the paint code on it. Though it does sound like you found it under the trunk as well. Have fun...

36P is correct code for venetian blue. Here's mine....

Any chance you have dark blue sport seats and want to trade for standard seats?...didn't think so.
congrats on the car.

What! an error in the red book. Thanks Bill for the compliment and don911 for validating the color code. I can sleep better knowing this.

don911, I'd love to have sports seats also...BTW what setup are your rims since they fill in the flares pretty darn good. Also did you lower her? Was it hard to do?

Falcon,
My car has 7" and 8" x 16 wheels. It originally had 15" fuchs from the factory. It looks like your car may have the 15" wheels as well. My car is lowered to close to euro height. It was lowered by a mech. when I had larger torsion bars installed so I don't know all that's involved in lowering.

Also, if you haven't already heard about Cardex. You can get the build info on your car from Porsche Cars of North America. I haven't received mine yet but I think it gives all the details on options, color codes, etc...

Car came with 16x6 and 7, but not lowered... bummer. You mentioned cardex. Do you have a website for this that gives info.

You can get Cardex from Porsche Cars North America. I left my info at work but here's their #: 800-545-8039 Give them a call and get the details on how to get a cardex.

If you plan on doing some home wrenching, Bentleys Service Manual is a great help. It's around $90 but well worth it.

the Cardex will set you back $30. You can also call Porsche and they will read you the options list over the phone for free.

thanks guys. I just purchase a bentley from ebay, much cheaper than retail. Still digesting it. The sticker that appears in the trunk with the paint code also has a listing of the option codes. Since I have these, does the cardex give me any additional info that I don't already have?

I don't think so - but others may have more/better info. to decode the options list, follow this link and put in the option codes.

to all,

prompted by another topic, I checked the bentley manual (great book) and there is a plate with the color code. For an 88 it is located inside the boot, when you remove the carpeting on the right front fender area, there's a plate with the color code and your color (in german). Mine is 36P venetian blue. There's another number that I haven't deciphered yet.
