Any re-production door handle experiences?
I was going to de-anodize and polish (doing a backdate) my OE black door handles only to find out they are black chrome plated pot metal.
I'm wondering if there is anyone that can vouch for the repro ones... operation, quality, appearance etc. EDIT: I'm also noticing you can get plastic ones that work with the later model cars. Anybody have these that can add some input?

Interior handles? I've used them, they work nicely. There was a thread a few weeks ago on installation issues.

Sorry for the confusion but I am referring the exterior door handles that TRE sells (unavailable here at the moment)

I was also thinking about doing this. Did you ever try polishing the black anodized door handles?

Mine were faded. I decided to re-spray with SEM black trim paint. I learned from another thread on this forum that this trim paint works well. I concur. They turned out pretty well. Much better than the black/powder white look!
![]() ![]() Super involved ripping open the door panels, but was able to clean up some random hardware previous mechanics left behind.
