Wipers

Hi

Just removed the wipers form my 82 SC to paint them. On replacing them the wipers dont work - I can hear the motor running though. Is there an easy fix for this?

Thanks

I assume you mean you removed the wiper arms.

If they are not seated all the way down on the stubs they will not move although the motor will turn the stubs.

+1 ^^^ must be fully seated and locked. To test remove the new arms and see if stub moves when wiper is turned on.

If the issue is (as above) they are not seated properly, make sure you clean off the threads on the studs & arms; the threads can get clogged with metal shavings from each other and you don't get positive engagement.

Thanks for the answers guys. The problem was actually that the mechanism had become detached from the motor. To fix this, I had to remove the cover beneath the bonnet, followed by the blower assembly. There was then just about enough room to reposition the mechanism and tighten the nut and washer. Very fiddly and took about 3 hours.
But at least I have wipers lol!
