84 Carrera Front Bumper/Foglight Recess
I've got an 82 911SC that had an aftermarket Yellowbird front end and I'm restoring it to original - mostly! I've elected to use an 84 Carrera's front valance because I like the recessed fog lights and the Yellowbird spoiler had 84 Carrera fog lights in it already!
When I obtained my sheet metal and bumper from an 84 Carrera, I noticed on the underside of the bumper there are recesses cut out along the back rim of the bumper which I assume allow clearance for the fog lights. On the right underside of the bumper in the area around the right foglight cut-out/recess, the bumper gently curves up or indents all the way around the cut-out as if to provide additional clearance. It is very smooth, even, and appears to be made that way from the factory. The left underside of the bumper over the fog light is perfectly straight and doesn't curve or indent inwards. I'm assuming this is factory-correct and the additional clearance is to provide the right fog light with a bit more upwards adjustment vs the left. Am I correct or did someone modify this area? Thanks, John Last edited by jaustinmd; 05-29-2015 at 03:48 AM.. |

John,
The additional "clearance" on the right side has nothing to do with the fog light. Porsche did that to admit more air to the oil cooler area. JR |
