Foiled again! Bumper problem. Advice needed...

After a trial fit of the GT-Racing bumpers, I realize that the RS (IROC) rear bumper is about 2 inches shorter than the stock bumper with valance.

That means I will have a LOT of muffler showing from the rear if I use the muffler I want. (Same dimensions as GHL or B&B).

Do I look for a different rear muffler? Different bumper? (kind of like the bumper )

If I get a banana muffler like the Dansk or Monty, can I re-plumb them to accept the dual inlets on the outside ENDS of the muffler? Does the sport Dansk with 2 parallel exhaust pipes have lateral entry? Also: will the DANSK handle the flow from a 3.6?

HELP !!!!

PS I hope to post pics of the cooler install later. Very cool!

I used the same rear bumper cap on mine. My suggestion is to paint the muffler black. It hides very well. Here is a shot of mine before the paint and one after.

Hope this helps.

Looks great. What type of muffler is that? Is it the Dansk sport? Do you think it could handle the flow from a 3.6 993 motor?

Hi Moses
if you are talking about the exhaust box showing along the length of the rear bumper then you may well be hard pushed to find one with less depth.....as to the twin outlet exhaust pipes you can buy rear boxes with the exhaust 'tips' not welded.....you set the position of the tips yourself and then weld them into position have a look at http://www.*****************
on the exhaust link.....the site is very slow

Hey Bones,

No, the outlets are no problem. I really like the look of Dr. Sopp's setup. My problem is that when you mount a 993 motor in a '83 SC, there is no lateral room for 993 mufflers, and there is very little distance from the header outlet to the muffler inlet. It is an easy fix if you don't needs cats, but I do. My most reasonable hope is to plumb in-line mini-cats and insert exhaust pipes into the outside ENDS of the muffler. Don't know if you can do that with Dr. Sopp's muffler.

The penalty is you can't drive your car. Without the required emission testing, they will not issue a current registration for the car.
