radio wiring

A PO installed an aftermarket Clarion head unit. I want to replace it with another Sony head unit I took out of our old Honda before I sold it, but the wiring harness doesn't match. A quick google told me there are tons of these, and I have no idea where to start. I'm wondering if anyone might recognize these and be able to identify what kind of adaptor I need. Or am I better off just cutting and soldering? That's fine, if I have to, but I'd rather get an adaptor, if one is available. Here are the units:

old:

new:

What is the name or model # of the new unit?

How is the clarion harness wired in? I just finished wiring a pioneer unit in. One of the POs had swapped the original Blaupunkt for one that you could pull in and out. All the original connections were cut. I had to connect loose wires to the harness. Not to bad since so few wires are actually used on these older cars.

The new(ish) one is a Sony CDX-GT260MP: Sony eSupport - CDX-GT260MP - Support

The clarion looks like it was wired in a bit of a hack job. The power wasn't connected properly so that it disconnected whenever the car was off. A bit of a pain, as I can't save any presets, etc. That's one thing I'd like to correct. There's a whole mess of wires down there, including non-factory wiring to the rear speakers.

I don't see any adapters that convert a clarion harness to a sony. I think you will have to cut the old one out and wire in the new. Limited number of connections so it won't be hard and it sounds like the old one was wired incorrectly anyway since you don't hold presets (the constant and switched connections are likely reversed, which is what I did to mine).

I used crimp caps, which was much easier than soldering. The way it was wired I only had 7 wires to connect (constant, switched, ground, left +, left-, right + and right -)
