				heater flapper box question

hello all, I have noticed on my heater cables, going to the flapper box, the outer sheath of the cable has shrunken or broken off. The cable will close the vent, but since the sheath is too short, I cannot turnoff the heat without crawling up under the car, which has gotten old really quickly. Can I use bicycle cable and slide it over the wire to replace the old cover? Anyone tried this repair? Thanks

Might work, but you'll have to find a way to secure the sheath at the flapper box. There's a small metal tube that holds the sheath secure. The diameter of the sheath would have to be correct to press fit into this tube.

once the plastic tube breaks off the metal sleeve, the valves don't shut well. just get a new tube. they're cheap.
