Question wind noise

1987 carrera...driving at 3000 rpm on the highway and trying to enjoy the sound of my Monty muffler, is spoiled by wind noise/whistle...it seems that it is coming from the driver door, upper closure with the car body...but not really sure where exactly it is...
I am sure there are some Pelicans that experience this annoying problem on their Carreras...
I would appreciate some advice as to pin point the location of the leak and the remedy.
pictures really can help
thanks

Tape off the windshield with some painter's tape first, to make sure it isn't coming from a bad windshield seal, as is most common.

Do the same tape thing wih the doors as well. If the seal is old and flat, it can sometimes leak air. If neither of those prices to be the culprit, check the trunk. Lots of areas behind the dah that can leak if the front lid lets in air.

+1 Tape the suspect areas and go from there.

Located the door seals to see if they are missing

I replaced all the seals, strips and plugs but mine whistles right where david (OP) says also. Stuffing a couple of inches of napkin in the joint from the inside quiets it. I thought it was the mirror`s location on the drivers door. Pass side is OK.
I dunno whats up either

When I replaced my door seal, I accidentally mis-aligned it and it created a whistle.

Lucky for you coupes you have this kit:

Parts that Porsche created to kill some of the wind noise in the earlier coupes, around the quarter window area. An '87 should have these.

wind noise

Thanks for the pictures...let me understand, i DO NOT HAVE A SEAL OVER THE DOOR ITSELF, ONLY A SEAL THAT SURROUNDS THE BODY CAVITY WHERE THE DOOR PRESSES AGAINST WHEN IT CLOSES...and..a FELT DEAL SURROUNDING THE BODY CAVITY AS WELL...AND STOPS 2 INCHES ABOVE THE DOOR UPPER HINGE.

It goes on the body. It's the one you have, shown in your picture.

if it is mounted on the body then why the decryption of the part says that it goes on the door?
