Yeah, I know ;) Tho actually it's good as long as I want to spend my own money, which obviously I do. Better yet if it's near the bottom of the budget rather than the top!

If it was closer I would be. And I don't need any more cars!!!

SAME!! And I'm hundreds of hours away :)

I hope it's a good one and you get it. I don't know why, but it feels good to see others excited about 911's

I have been following this thread for a while, and for what its worth, I purchased an 83' targa last month for 22k and its much better than I would have expected for the money. Like everyone else I am amazed with the air cooled market. I have had 2 other SC's but the last one was 8 years ago. (should have kept it:rolleyes:) When I decided I wanted another SC I spent 6 months looking every day on ebay, craigslist, autotrader.com etc......... Every time I saw, what I thought was a good deal, I was to late. I saw a car in Hemmings Motor News and called. It was a high mileage (150k) targa, lots of service history, great full leather int. decent paint, (respray in original color in 2002) I had a good feeling about the car and my conversation with the owner. I asked for his "buy it today price" and it sounded good. I then called the shop where it had been serviced for the past few years and they gave me information about the car and had even done a valve adjustment and compression test within the last 500 miles. I immediately called the owner back and bought the car (6k less than the asking price). I have sold vehicles long distance but this was my first long distance purchase. Very scary! I then drove 17 hours to Traverse City MI to get the car. I did not trust an unknown broker to have the car shipped. The car was 100% as advertised. My wife and I spent a couple of days in Michigan, using the car as our site seeing vehicle. I loaded it in the trailer and brought it back to Delaware. With the exception a minor oil leak the car is great. I still can't believe I actually found a decent deal in Hemmings. Sorry for the long story but I just wanted to tell Otter to trust his gut, and be ready to pounce or someone else will beat you to it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1435580465.jpg

Familiar story, even though I've only been shopping for a month :) I did see a really nice-looking car in Traverse City recently...and the ad disappeared within 24 hours. Saw a fantastic value in CO a few hours after the ad went up, called the seller immediately, called a friend that lived nearby to have him check it out for me and act as my agent, so to speak, he and seller worked out a time and I was the second person to call about the car and so second in line....and the first guy bought it on the spot :) So it goes, but there is always another car out there and I am patient. It is easy to be patient when you are dealing with a want rather than a need.

Good luck!!! If I see anything I'll let you know. I still look nearly every day for adds. I think it became a habit.

Otter74 07-05-2015 04:25 PM

I'm not sure if this is best asked here or in the marketplace discussion section, but is there any one in the Twin Cities (MN) who might be able to check out a car for me? If so, PM me and I'll give oui a call.

Thanks,

David
