Help, SC will not go into 2nd gear

I was driving home this morning in my 82 SC and when I tried to down shift into second the shifter started shaking. I could not get into 2nd gear. I pushed the clutch in and out and with difficulty got it into 2nd. I was only a block away from home and got into the driveway without shifting. At home I had difficulty getting out of 2nd then on the driveway I could shift and drive in any gear except 2nd. Futhermore, even with the car off it will not go into second...feels blocked. With the clutch in or out I can go through all the gears with the motor off except second. Looked through the archives and couldn't find a similar problem. Incidentally I changed my transmission oil 3 weeks ago to swepco and it has never felt better until today. The clutch feels fine in 1st and reverse. Could it be a shifter bushing? Would that effect only one gear? Synchro problem? Linkage adjustment? Any or all of the above?

Did you check the #6 guide fork for tightness of the three M6 nuts on the cover #5 when you changed to Swepco?

Warren, I did not check the #6 guide fork. How do you do it? Is it not inside the transmission? I used 101 projects and saw no references? I tried to drive again with a cold engine/transmission and with much difficulty was able to get into second, it wanted to pop out, then when in it was difficult to get out? Doesn't seem like a bushing problem.

drain the oil and see if there are any little teeth in the drainplug magnet. it's common for the teeth to break off the 1st or 2nd pressed on syncro ring. do not drive it until you check, or serious damage can result from chunks going thru gears.

Will bad synchro rings prevent you from shifting when the engine is not running? Further I did not hear any grinding with shifting, and still do not.
