Perhaps we can use two different channels. One for those that want chatter, another for those that actually need to pass on some important organizational info (ie, so-in-so's car broke down again, watch out for the law enforcement at mile marker 172, etc).
|
Chatter - what are we doing, going on a date or something? :D
Seriously, if people can bring some hand helds that would be great. Unfortunately I don't have any but maybe I'll swing by Radio Shack and pick up a set. BTW, I sent the information to the following 3 Pelican members so now we are up to 33 potential participants! Chris M. call911 Lawson Here's to hoping the Porsche weather gods will be smiling on us. |
I've got two FRS radios I'll bring.....
Also, for those who want to buy a pair, Costco.com has a nice set for $50. Follow this link

33 PCars?
Hey Doug,
Better hook up a film crew to cover the run - this one is shaping up to be an event! |
Tony - I agree that this should be something. I will try to find someone to video tape us leaving and returning as well as hopefully from some selected points along the route.
BTW, we will be crossing a low water bridge out near Front Royal so I can only hope that with all this rain the bridge remains above water! |
Doug:
Let Richard get ahead when we get close to that bridge, he wants a new motor in that thing anyway. Cheers, and T minus 4 days and counting. EDIT: Rob I'm on the floor . . . parade permit:D |
Hey guys,
A friend of mine wanted a pair of those handhelds and I found him a nice set at Wal-Mart for I think about 20 bucks each. I got them for him for his birthday! I will borrow them from him or maybe bring him with me if I come. So far, it's looking promising! Rob PS Did anyone apply for the parade permit? LOL |
No offense to any of the areas we will be driving through but in some parts of the route their idea of a parade includes a John Deere or two.
If 33 P-Cars come rolling through they will probably head for the hills :D |
Doug,
That is true but they would probably draw the line if someone came through on a PORSCHE tractor! That would constitute an invasion! Rob PS I can hear them now... how fast can one of them things plow a 10-acre field? patuey....ding PPS A low water bridge...really? |
I'm getting there early to get a good parking space.
|
Breaker! Breaker! Acting on an anonymous tip, I just picked up a couple of Motorola walkie talkies at Costco. I've got dibs on "Rubber Ducky" as a call sign.
|
Hey all. I'm quite new to the p-car scene (bought my first 911 in Feb.) and to Pelican...actually this is my fisrt post here, I ususlly frequent the Rennlist pages.
I'm pretty excited about meeting other p-car folks in the area. I will definitely be in, weather permitting, as my Targa WILL leak like a strainer. I can borrow 4 motorolla talk-abouts and bring Waynes Engine Rebiuld preview copy for the folks who are interested in taking a look. -Charlie 82 SC Targa. Brown |
Charlie--
Welcome to the board, but Brown ? I will withhold judgment until Sunday. Don't know about the color, but excellent taste on the body style.;) |
Dan, How about Rosewood...better?
|
Don't sweat it Charlie. Dan's car used to be arrest-me red. But when he bought it he had it resprayed to just-try-to-arrest-me-I'm-a-lawyer-red.
|
Not a drop of perspiration formed on brow. I like the brown...looks classy and low key. But a Porsche is a Porsche (poo brown or arrest me red) to any trooper.....ask me how I know. I'd like to make my reservation for the middle of the pack;)
-Charlie (Becoming increasingly school-girl giddy) |
I hope it doesn't rain...I have enough trouble keeping all four tires on the road when it's dry

Bald tires, rain and a smoke screen. I'm in front of Richard. :D Just kidding.
|
Just as long as your not behind Jim.
