Hugo,
Many thanks for the information!!! I was a Steve McQueen fan before LeMans and Bullitt.. I watch all the old reruns of "Wanted Dead or Alive"... Unfortunately, I never got to meet him.. One of my best friends and Porsche 'guru' did.. Drew said he was a great person...

Mechum has a big name.. I've seen many cars (that I know the REAL value of) sell for convoluted prices.. Some way to high and some at give away prices.. My $.02, which I understand is less than $.01 these days...........

on the margins, I stand by my comment. mecum is not the venue for this car. it will still go for 7 figures but I would have thought mike would have sought bonhams or gooding?

I thought this car was such a steal the last time it sold, wish I had the balls at the time to buy it. IIRC it was around the 150k mark but I can't find any reference. Anyone?

Enjoy !
We do visit the Boys Republic during the annual car show events.

Nice cars, nice people, and IN-N-OUT is always there.

Met Chad a few times, & he is a nice guy.

I also agree that Bonhams and Gooding would be a better choice to auction this car, but I don't think it will reach $1,000,000. No offend to Neel and the other McQueen fans ! I just think that the ''McQueen premium'' on this particular car cannot go from let's say, $75,000 in 2008 to $750,000 in 2015 (assuming a similar 930 was worth $50,000 in 2008 and $250,000 today)

We should have a pool on the final hammer price, if someone know how to do it on this forum...

you may be correct. the steve premium is very real but 7 figures real?

My comment was based only on the past sale mike did with the McQueen lusso he had owned as well. it went well into the 7 figure range and similarly, the car was not worth anywhere near that if it was just a lusso w/o the steve pedigree.

I think there is a chance it goes for 7 figures but alas, you are likely correct.

do you think > $500k is realistic?

When McQueen's 911S went to auction in 2011, it sold for $1.3 million and at that time early S's were trading for roughly what an early 930 goes for these days. So I think >$500k is realistic.

I know when this very car sold for something like $130K a couple years ago, I thought it was a bargain.

no disrespect to the deceased (who I am a huge fan of), nor his everlasting legacy, but I find it very ....... for these people trying to make premium of the name. If the car belonged to Billy Bob, would it be cheaper???? This is a car not an ancient Egyptian mummy.
