78 SC Flag Mirror motor only goes one way

As the title says, my 78 passenger flag mirror only goes out and in even whence plying the joystick up and down. I replaced the motor unit with a correctly functioning one and still side to side only, no up and down.

I'm having a hard time understanding how the mirror positioning switch/joystick could malfunction this way, but I'm happy to be enlightened. Can the rocker switch that controls left and right operation cause such a glitch?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

chris

Nope.

My bet is the right hand motor may be tired in the up down movement or the pin connectors in the mirror are corroded/broken at the wires.

Moderate job, mainly tedious, once you spool up for it. Need to do some searches.

Interesting - a signal issue vis-a-vis the wiring before the motor, at the connector. This is something I can work with. Perhaps a schematic would help. I guess with both mirrors doing the same thing, I can eliminate the mirror.

Thanks for the idea, bob.

Cripes, I am sorry. I did not catch you replaced the motor (beer - cheap beer - lots). Assuming passenger side only?

Do both sides do the same thing? No up and down?
