What do you bring for an emergency...
when taking your P-car for a long trip. I've already got that spare DME relay, cell phone, and AAA card. Should I bring anything else? Recommendations?

On a serious note, I'd take a car cover, to hopefully keep folks away from that pretty cab while I tried to catch 40 winks in a Motel...

In an emergency, empty the magazine...then hope you have another. A car quitting on you isn't an emergency. It may be very inconvienient, but it's seldom an emergency...

LOL on this subject..I can't think of a laugh.. anyway, I think the ride will be to some snow areas not too far away. so a breakdown is a remote possibility..some full size road flares may be wanted if you have to stop on snow/ice roads in an emergency..I keep my flares is an old steel toolbox.....Ron

Well, if you don't carry tools and spares, then be sure to take your American Express card. No limits with this card!

Before I get really serious here I alwyas carry the latest copy of Panorama because it has a listin gin the back of the all the regional folks with phone numbers. That way, I at least know where to get help in an unknown territory.
I am a product of the 60's and started out with a 1958 "bug-eyed" Sprite, moved into a Triumph TR-4A IRS, FIAT 124 etc, etc. Back in those days when it rained you might as well set up camp for the day, because buddy, your car was not going to run!! I learned from those experiences and carry on the tradition with my 1973T. Here is what is inside my survival "ditty bag". . flare gun . signal mirrors . survival blanket . extra 8 track tapes . Large hip-flask of "Boone's Farm Apple wine" . Mary Jane and her accessories . "Don't Tread on Me" antenna mast flag . bag of oreos . powdered milk . bunches of ZAP comic books PEACE Bob |

Flashlight, extra fan belt, small tool kit for fixing what is fixable, and a swiss army knife and roll of duct tape for cutting away or re-attaching what isn't.

Chuck......
Not a destination, just a frame of mind................................... Great "REST STOP" supplies until the flat bed truck shows up! But of course back in those days of hippies you would leave the old car in the rain behind and hitchhike to the closest town. Hitchhiking was safe then and anyone with a peace symbol around their neck was a guaranteed ride! Foreign car mechanics were as common as "7 Elevens" and the parts stores carried everything Lucas, Bosch, Weber and British Leyland. It was truely an adventure. Went from Chicago to LA via Route 66 in my Triumph once, but that a separate chapter. It was a different time.................for the old timers, they can relate well to my list!!! If I had to be honest on todays roads and insanity..........add a GPS unit, body armor, Aston Martin DB-5 type missle launcher, bullet proof glass, oil spray, flame throwers and everything "M" can come up with. Safe voyaging Bob |

Make a list of Porsche dealers, repair shops, parts suppliers, and maybe even a few Pelicans or PCA members that live close to the route you are taking. If I had one, I would even bring my wireless internet ready PDA (Palm Pilot) along in case I have to post an emergency "HELP" message on this board.
