My 88 930 had been converted to the R-134 air conditioning system. As most posts atest to, it don't work that well!! However, I recently saw an ad for an additional evaporator manufactured by Griffiths that fits in the left rear fender well.
Has anyone tried it and if so, did it lower the temp on a hot day to the extent that it warrants the cost, etc? Thanks. |

I don't think it was an aditional evaporator
they were selling. It was a condensor and fan which fit inside the rear fender. The condensor works as a heat exchanger. The more heat you pull away the cooler the air will feel. I installed a larger condensor which mounted under the car. It was about the width of the car and was located about under the front seats. Did a good job on my SC. Purchased it from Performance Aire in LA. About $300 I think. Hope this helps. PS. I have met the owner from Griffiths. He is a very friendly and really knows is stuff. I believe you mean a condensor. This will add capacity but not actually lower temps coming out of the ducts. Actually, scratch that, it probably WOULD lower the temps as the head pressure would drop. The biggest benefit would be capacity though. Your system would be able to remove the same given amount of heat in less time with an additional condensor.
