Alternator Removal
My alternator in my 88 911 died. I removed the fan and housing....I have applied PB blaster and a Seafoam product as a penetrating oil. I have read the Pelican article on alternator removal ....I still cannot get the alternator to come out....Any suggestions? Thanks

place 2 2x4 on the ground, drop the fan-alternator combo on to the 2x4s until it comes out. Resist temptation to pound on the little long skinny bolts.

There's a woodruff key in there. I took mine to a local Porsche shop and had them pull the old one off and press on the new one. I was worried that pounding on it would damage it.

Then flip over and use the same method to remove the fan from the alternator. Don't lose the funky little rocker-tab that keys the fan in place on the alternator shaft.

The drop method works like a champ! Make sure you have a soft towel on the ground to catch the ALT.
