Rear lights- earthing
Hello
As with Porsches I have inherited an earth issue. The problem I have is: Oil gauge flickers in time with the indicators! Brake and indicators both flash when either is activated Question: Anyone else had this issue with the oil pressure gauge and what earth connection is common if any? The light fitting are the original ones which would be nice to clean and re use, but some one has chewed the screw heads. What's is the easiest way to remove the damaged screws? Also what is the screw diameter so I don't use too big a drill. If I brake removing, are the aftermarket light clusters ok? Or to be avoided? Cheers |

I think you should check the ground eyelet first (brown wire) . Maybe the connection is bad due to corrosion ? The aftermarket one's i have seen so far were always low quality. Always better if you can save your original ones. A picture would indeed help which screws you are referring to.

Ok,
Now it is clear what you are referencing. I though you were talking about the instrument light bulb holders and wondering where the screws are! Use a Dremel with a thin cutting blade to cut a groove for a flat blade screwdriver if you can get in there for removing the screws. The plastic aftermarket units aren't worth bothering with.

New-ish 911SC Targa Owner
|
In case someone else searches and finds this thread...
I had weird lighting issues on my 1983 because one of the tail/brake bulbs was incorrect. The previous owner had put in an 1156 instead of the 1157/7528 two filament bulb. My symptoms were: Brake lights not coming one when parking lights were on. Front right turn signal bulb would illuminate when brake pedal depressed. |
