Any loyal reliable shop helpers around?

We are looking for one full time. You will do everything from cleaning /washing/ vacuuming the shop/offices , thru packaging parts, cleaning parts, searching for parts here, and even some light mechanical stuff that we can teach you.

We work on some great cars, and you will learn a LOT about Porsches. If you like to talk, late to work, have problems that keep you from being here full time; please don't waste both our time.

A perfect driving record is a must, and if you have a pick up or van, we pay fair mileage if you use it for work

resumes to tremotorsports@gmail.com

thank you

Welcome to the world of millennials...
Whatever you do don't take their phone away! Organize their nap times too.
Oh yeah, pay them double what they are worth and ask their advice on how to run your business..

Yeah, why can't they just suck it up and pay off our massive debts with their flat wages?

And, after you've invested time and money (via absorbing costs of their mistakes, etc) into this person(s) and things are finally getting under control - dare I say, maybe even profitable - another opportunity for $1.00/hour more comes along and it's bye-bye time......... The joys of being an employer

I'm very interested. I'd have to move across country, but I have family in LA not far from the shop.

Great opportunity for a retiree.

I retired at 49 and had the opportunity to work at a small, independent Porsche repair/restoration shop. If it weren't for the 26 mile commute on one of the worst stretch of Bay Area freeways (680 between 580 and 4), I might still be doing it (nah, I'm getting too lazy). Learned a lot and got to work on some interesting Porsche - 356s through C4s.

I've recently retired at 68, and would love to take a job at an independent Porsche repair shop. Unfortunately, there aren't any close to where I live. Got tired of the management grind, and dealing with recent graduate "engineers" with zero common sense. Seems like a great job for someone willing learn, show some enthusiasm and loyalty to a shop like TRE. Sad to say I haven't seen that type of individual from this generation.

I'm bumping this because if TRE was in San Diego, I'd probably volunteer to work there a couple days a week just to absorb the knowledge!

Instead of grumbling about the state of our millennials, contact your local and state reps and insist on rebalancing real world objectives of secondary education. Whenever there's an educational scare, the pendulum swings much too far in the opposite direction at the expense of identifying talented students and a lack of skilled craftsmen in our workforce.

While countries such as Germany have some drawbacks in their philosophy of basic education (early age tracking), skilled workers are well-paid and their economy is robust and unemployment (for citizens anyway) is relatively low. We could do better in that regard than we have in the last 10-15 years.

Most US schools have dropped elective subjects from their curriculum (including industrial arts, art, music and other "non-college prep" classes). The importance of these varied courses is to expose young people to "other" subjects and broaden their educational b.g. That's why TRE as well as all major automotive manufacturers find it more difficult to attract a work force predisposed to skills for successful entry into these occupations.

MHO,
Sherwood

Any friends in the local fire department? The engineers love things mechanical and know the city.
The recently retired guys usually like to keep doing something useful.

Jeez, let's blame the youth of the country for all our problems now. Maybe their baby boomer parents have some responsibility?

Way to turn a for hire thread into myopic commentary from bitter old people.
