Handbrake Boot
Hi
I have a 1987 911 Targa M491 with automatic heating (so no levers). The driver's manual shows a diagram of the handbrake with no leather gaiter or boot. Mine has a leather boot but not original. Does anyone know what was standard? A leather boot over the handbrake or no boot? Thanks Rohan |

I just went through this with mine: What Holds Handbrake Handle and Boot Onto the Handbrake?
My '87 had a leather boot around when I bought it. I also have autoheat. I always thought it looked kind of frumpy. Like you I never found a leather boot in the PET. So I asked around, and the leather boot is aftermarket crap. I bought a new handle and new rubber cover, and it looks WAY better in my opinion. Old, aftermarket: ![]() New, correct:
