You might be better off sourcing parts from classified ads and then bringing it all together with a color change and new carpet via leatherique. You can freshin up a lot of the other parts youslf with a little work. I'm guessing you could spend a lot of money...a little bit of money...or some money I'm personally very impressed with the leather rejuvinator fro leatherique... Save what you can and go from there. Maybe a prototipo instead of trying to fix the stocker. Also...big surprises can be found under the leather if you have leather covered door tops and kneepads... My leather was toast...but the plastic underneath was perfect black. Keep us posted...I'm in the middle of an overhaul myself. I keep eyeballing the singer lookalike seats from gts classics!

I have started on this recently myself. Competitor to PP had a 20% sale a little while ago so I ordered new door panels, RS carpet set, headliner and lots of seals. Waiting on the door panels but I believe they are weltmeister made. I am trying to find the vinyl to match for the other interior vinyl covered parts (a and b pillars). I hope there is a brand on the vinyl door cards so I can match exactly or I might choose an alternate color. The early car I am working on has vinyl wrapped metal on those pillars and rear wheel wells that is old, faded and tearing in some places. If it's GAHH then it's available here but not cheap for vinyl. GAHH: Convertible Tops, Auto Interiors, Quality Convertible Tops

Then come seats and like you I was set on GTS classics (they are even local to you and I) but from the pictures I am seeing and comments on the internets, I don't think they are worth the $. The BF Torino seats are cheaper even coming from Italy and the fit and finish look better than GTSC IMO. Tho they don't have singer clone seats if that's what you got to have. The exchange rates are favorable (thanks Greece) and we take 20% the price since no VAT (I believe) you can get nicer seats for way less than GTSC.

SC Interior

I replaced the headliner, carpets, seats (with Corbeau seats), door panels (with RS type), deleted the rear seats and console. Total cost for parts and labor (headliner) was around $3K. Here's a picture:

Check this out.

While I agree with those who have posted that the classifieds can be a good source for upgraded and potentially nicer interior parts (this is the route I went), it's hard to argue with what this guy accomplished on a DIY budget + passion and commitment:

Complete DIY Upholstery 1984

Regardless of which path you take, I'm sure you will easily improve what you have. But you knew that already!

Good luck and post some "after" photos.

I have done a complete gut of the interior on my '77.

Removed all old glue, paint etc...basically scrubbed down to bare metal.
Primed and sprayed with POR.
Wurth GM OEM sound deadening pads
New square weave carpet kit
Back seat delete.
Original seats - completely redone / updated / upholsetred by GTSClassics (Stefan)
Re-upholstered rear parcel, door panels. New power window switches, RSR door handles etc
New Steering wheel.
New audio speakers (rear, door, and dash) + vintage (modern) audi head unit from retrosound
New dashboard (original was un-salvageable)
New safety belts
New front windscreen and rear windschield rubber seals

You get the picture...basically everything aside from roof
All work done by myself. Newbie to the world of Porsches, but not to DIY...so i factored in approx 10% margin on errors (which i made a few)...and right now, I am sitting on roughly $7.5k

Hope this helps. I have read some folks spending 3k...but i question how thorough or complete the redo was.

Probably a fair question. However, it can be or could be done at the time (2011). On my SC interior, I completely stripped the interior, headliner, all windows out, small trim on posts, etc, seats, carpet, sound deadener, etc. The only part that I farmed out was the headliner installation and the glass removal and installation. All of the rubber seals for the glass was new. I put dyna-mat down from firewall to firewall, installed RS style carpets, deleted the console and made a bracket to move the a/c controls into the area where the ash tray used to live. I replaced the old trim on the A and B pillars. I installed a set of Corbeau 4 pt harnesses and a pair of Corbeau seats with sliders. I also replaced the door cards with an RS style set. I did not have to do anything with the dash face or dash pad as both were in good condition. Costs for all the above was about $3K, maybe just a bit over. If I missed replacing anything in the interior, I don't know what it would have been. The door seals and the miscellaneous small seals for the doors would be the only items that were not included but were done later. I did get a good deal on the Corbeau seats and belts so that helped to keep the cost down some. I also built a pair of speaker enclosures to go on the rear deck for the rear radio speakers. However, that was all labor as the material was saved scrap.

My seat restore alone costs 3k. So 4k for the rest....maybe somewhat inline with your numbers...although 2011 pricing would definitely have been cheaper than today...but not drastically so i would think.

More likely ...i have not been as resourceful and frugal as you!

Can I ask about the POR treatment? I am at the striped down stage and wondering the best treatment and cover (paint) I should apply. I heard that painting over POR is not good as the paint won't stick but I need some sort of rust encapsulater. I have striped the interior and started with the wire wheel to clean up for paint but I don't know how to treat the trouble spots where some surface rust has started and I won't be able to wire-wheel/sand/grind all of it out. I would like to paint and add in some sound insulation(gonna look into the GM Wurth stuff) but want to treat and paint (while I'm here/have the chance).

I'm feeling lucky, only few bits of surface rust on the floor/tub. Few dings from improper jacking/lifting but they are easily fixed. Now to find new drain plugs. WTF are these for? The seam sealer is like rust magnet and I guess they never heard of a wet vac when adding this to the design?

Paint options with rust help?
Wurth GM vs other sound insulation (I have some dynamat left from RV install any reason to now use not that?)
