Original '58 on ebay

Original paint, museum quality. How do you preserve a car like this? Amazing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1872127663

Stunning. Amazing.
Not nearly as stunning at Peter Frampton in front of the 'Vette, but very close.

"How do you preserve a car like this?"

Or more importantly, what do you do with a car like this? Buy a museum to put it in? I don't think driving the car could even be contemplated. -- Curt

That interior is not all original, it's been redone... makes me suspicious about the rest.

Just for my own knowledge, what do you see that gives the interior away as being redone?

Final bid $81K for a car that sold new for around 3? Hmmmm. Wonder if a 45 year old Boxter will get similar bids?

Robert, point well made. But weren't both the 356 Speedster and the Boxter once considered "entry level" cars?

You're right...I'd now rather have a 14-6 than a Boxter. But how about this other entry level Porsche...a 924? Nope..never!

Yep, guess we need to choose entry level cars carefully...But your initial post was spot on. In 45 years, I won't give a damn...

autobonrun, blow up the 4th & 5th photos down on the left side, these seats are supposed
to have 62k mi on them? I think they have been recovered, also look at the pocket that
the manual is in. The piping around the pocket I don't believe is 44yrs.old. Even a pristine
car in a museum that hasn't been driven at all gets a patina, the fabrics and leather fade
a bit unevenly. That interior just looks TOO new.

If that's the car that was just at the German Autofest and it looks like it is. Then it is the real deal. Even the tires were the original set.

The passenger door had been repaired and painted from a parking lot mishap.
