69S Questions
Hello all...I'm in the process of a suspension bushing replacement.
With the front of the car off the ground,I noticed that the right front wheel binds when spun. That is,it spins freely for about half of a turn, then definately binds for the other half of the turn. Is replacing the rotor the automatic remedy? Could this be part of my poor handling, steering wheel shaking problem? I have recently adjusted wheel bearings so I don't suspect any problems there. Could something else be bent? BTW,the left front spins freely... Thanks in advance... |

jeez! sounds like your rotor is warped but probably just a siezed brake caliper ... i'd pull it and check it out

Sounds like extra runout of the rotor (i.e., warped). Retract the brake pads a little and see if that frees things up. If so - bingo. Having really loose wheel brgs could contrubute. If you can't get them back - then caliper piston is the problem.

You might want to loosen up the caliper or pull it away and spin the wheel again. This will eliminate the issue of a warped rotor or bad brake pad, etc.
If the problem still exists, you might want to check the wheel bearing. If the bearing is failing, it could seize altogether. I did have this problem on a 72"E" and it was the bearing. The other suggestions should be explored first!!!! Marc |
