1975 911sfog foght wiring locations

does anyone have a photo of how the wires are run to the fog lights on a 75 911s?
mine were done by a previous owner and they do not seem right as they are located under the bumper.

Do you mean the lights are mounted to the underside of the bumper? If so, they are typically mounted to the spoiler sheet metal, below the bumper. Use Google to see some images of mounting location.

lights

the lights are mounted and wired, my concern is how the wiring was installed it does not seem correct as it goes from the light between the bumper and valence, i was wondering if it should go to the headlight bucket like the long hood cars?

If it's the 911s then I THINK the factory didn't include fogs. My 911s had what looked like dealer or aftermarket fogs installed in the same manner (from the underside of the bumper blade). The wiring was a joke, thick gauge black wires going from each fog into the drivers headlight grommet up under the fuse panel around the fresh air controls to the back of the fog light switch. They were just kind of laid in there and not really secured. deleted it. All the photos of stock looking 75 911s that I see -don't have fogs installed. If I see stock looking fogs on 911s' then they look like mine did , mounted from the underside of the blade and not through the valance like an SC. The midyear Carreras appear to have factory fogs installed.

Fogs were a factory option and after 73 they were run as seperate harnesses not included in the headlamp harnesses.
Not sure about the mid '70's routing other than it isn't in the front headlight harness.

wiring harness

this schematic shows 6 wire leads,,
i would guess that
1 wire low beam
1 wire high beam
1 wire parking light
1 would be turn signal
would that leave 2 wires? one for maybe running light and one for the fog light?
ground would be on the body i suppose.

this does not have the connector like the long hoods the wires appear to come directly from the fuse box.
does anyone have a wiring schematic similar to this showing the fog light harness or connection?

The 6 wires in your post show one of the wires as a jumper. (More obvious on the passenger side)jumper is for the grounds in the headlight bucket
Those are the high beam, low beam, signals, running light and two grounds.

The grounds run from the ground stud by the battery to each head lamp bucket.

Here is a photo of a complete fog lamp harness for '74 to '83. This one is a '78.
It shows the switch, wiring to fuse box and the relay, then the wiring to ground and headlight bucket in fenders. From there you need to run 2 wires about 3 feet long to each fog lamp (power and ground)

thanks

have to check mine closer tomorrow, i think that the wires do not go to the headlight bucket they go in some crude fashion to the fog lights directly. i think that one of the wires is shorting out.. so have to put it back to the way it should be.

As I said way earlier, I'm not sure the harnesses I pictured reach the headlight bucket. They may lay along the front of the car with grommeted wires coming from the bumper area through the body sheet metal to them.
My car has no fogs, never did, so I can't do a quick check.
The 3 foot wires to the fog lamps I have, go from the dual plastic connectors directly to the fog lamps with an elongated grommet on them.(for passing through the body)
Just like the ones from the headlight bucket to the turn signals do.

Set of used wiring to fog lamps that connect to the dual flat connectors in earlier photos. (Lamps go on the stripped funky ends)

Unused (plugged) grommet hole on passenger side (frunk side) fender near headlight bucket wiring entry point.
I would assume that is where the fog lamp wires would pass through. I have a similar one on driver's side.

I agree with Dennis, the wires to the fogs go through the body, not the headlamp buckets. Although on my 1979 the details are lost because a PO wired in a new valence/fogs from a later Carrera, and it's a bit of a hack job.

Here are details on how to connect the wiring to the fuse panel, depending on whether you want the fogs to work with just the parking lights on (the Euro configuration) or if you want to require the headlights to be on (the standard US configuration).
