Which way to go - bluetooth hands Free visor mount or bluetooth stereo radio

OK, so I want to be able to do hands free calling even though it is not required here in GA. I am trying to decide which device would be a better option for the Targa especially when the top is off.

Been doing lots of research on both and found a few that might work. Blaupunkt has the Barcelona 230 bluetooth radio at Cruchfields which would fit my car for around $139.00

The Jabar cruiser or freeway are another option. Anyone out there have any experience using either of these devices, or could you recommend another mfg that you think would be a better choice.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Targa and went through the expense of adding a really nice Alpine unit and Bluetooth'module

I also have a really nice aftermarket exhaust system (louder than stock for sure)

The bluetooth is great for me as I can hear the calls through the speakers however most people cannot hear me, especially with the roof off (and the roof is never on)

If I had to do it over again I would not do the bluetooth built in, Any dont bother me with a call, I am driving my Porsche!!

I have both: a Pioneer head unit with bluetooth in the 911, and a jabra freeway in my '71 mini. I can say without a doubt that you'll be happier with the head unit. It's obviously a much larger chore to install, but it will feel like part of the car and sound/mic quality will be better. The Jabra works great in the mini where there's no place for a stereo anyway. The downside is that you have to take it inside to recharge every so often and it's just too easy to forget to do. You'll always have to pause any music that may be on to use the Jabra, of course. A head unit will handle that for you. Sound quality is good enough on the Jabra, though. Not sure about volume with the top off.

I generally turn off my phone when I'm in the Porsche. I'm very happy to NOT have bluetooth there...

Thanks for the replies - the main reason for wanting one is if there is an emergency - I don't get a lot of calls because I won't answer my phone anyway - but if I am on a trip it would make it a lot easier to return a call if it was necessary.

The past twp weeks I traveled to Pa - it would have been nice to have a speaker phone instead of having to check my IPhone every time I heard it ring.

In a few weeks I will be going down to Panama City and I would like to have something installed by then.

again tanks for the replies and input.

Whatever you decide, I would stay away from Blaupunkt.. My last few experiences with them are that the new ones are junk..

Thanks Neel. I have been doing quite a bit of research on both the internet and watching videos on youtube regarding the different hands free visor mount units. Will be checking out the bluetooth radios next.
