How can I jumped 1987 3.2 911 altitude sensor

How can I jumped 1987 3.2 911 altitude sensor, my tech man lost it, and it will take two weeks to receiver new one.
Can any one teach me?

The sensor is right next to the DME under the drivers seat. It's the round can, unplug it and simply jumper the 2 wires on the harness side. But if you are below 3000 foot elevation then simply unplug it. The sensor closes (makes contact) when you are above 3000 feet.

Did the tech say if it's shorted closed or always open? And what elevation are you at?
