Exclamation poll!

what do you think my engine will put out in HP? its going on a dyno soon and i just want to get some guesses. it has 2.2L T p/c's and a 2.4 crank. T cams. zeniths. bursch headers and steelpak exhaust, and crank ignition. i think it will be in the 150 or 155 range. it started with 125 and th crank should (so i've heard)add 25 HP with the 2.2L p/c's

It is like a (slightly) higher compression 2.4T and I'm guessing slightly more than the 2.4T's 140. To be more precise, I'm guessing 125-130hp at the wheels.

I'm guessing it might crack 150hp (130hp @ wheels) if there was really good attention to detail.

Ooops, just remembered the 2.4T had MFI which seems to be good for 10hp.

Knock back my estimate by ~10hp.

I think 120hp at the wheels. But a nice smooth torqey motor.

based on what info you are giving, I wouldnt guess more than the stock 2.2T, the Zeniths are restrictive, the bursh steelpack is a dinosaur.

The stroke of the 2.2 and the 2.4 is the same..never heard of a crank adding hp ( perhaps reducing losses though)

Unless you did some head work, you have a stock 2.2T with crank fire and non factory exhaust.......

Id say 135 if your lucky

The 2.2 has a stroke of 66mm. The 2.4 has a stroke of 70.4mm. This is the displacement difference of the two motors.

I'll guess 135HP

I don't think Webers are really going to gain anything over the Zenith's. They're both 40mm carbs. Even adding a sport exhaust would probably give very little gain because your intake ports are 29mm. Outside of porting, more aggressive cams, or a displacement increase I don't see alot of area for improvement.

E cams might be a way to go but you might have to cut reliefs in the pistons. A 2.4E is 165HP if my memory serves. With carbs you would probably get around 155 to 160HP.

My 2.4T with L cams and 40 mm PMOs recently pulled 133hp at the wheel at roughly 6,400/6,600 rpm (rpm from memory).

I'm guessing you'll pull about the same.

As CamB said: it is a smooth and torqey motor

Yes but 40mm is only the butterfly size the important size is the venturis, I don't remember what size the stock Zenith venturi is (26 or 28 I think) but I'm running 36mm on my 3.0 and the throttle response and power are fantastic. I don't know if a suitable venturi is available for a 2.4 or not the 36 would work but you'd lose some drivability I would think. Either way, properly tune Zeniths are a dream and a whole lot cheaper than swapping on a set of webers or MFI.
