Bosch Battery backwards?
Bought a "Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size H6/L3/48" as they have a 25% off deal going on for batteries at Pep Boys. Got it home, took out the old, started installing and it's backwards!
Considered just flipping the battery with positive near front of the car, but the wires are not long enough. Wrestled it in - and now the battery posts are closer to the fender rather than the trunk. The battery is in SOLID using the standard mount. Do I need to be concerned about the positive post being about 1.5" from side of car? There is actually a plastic cover between the post / wire and the wall and it's not going anywhere - but wanted some opinions. NOTE: I do see they make a right and left battery but I don't think they have it at my Pep Boys. ![]()

The battery should have come with a plastic piece that covers the terminal. There are usually 2 holes on top were it slides in. Go back to Pep Boys, they fall off sometimes and get lost.

Just looked at my battery. Car came without a cover for the positive terminal, do you have a suggestion of where/what to buy to put one on? Also, can you educate me on why the positive terminal must be covered?
Thanks

Because if something touches it accidentally it could complete the circuit -- like you. Or something could fall across the terminal posts. Also it's a good idea to take off stuff like a wedding ring when you're messing with the battery. I also have a quick disconnect. I've probably used it a hundred times when working on the car.
Take a look at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Allstar-ALL76150-Plastic-Battery-Terminal/dp/B006K8V7KS

Also cover the positive battery to keep it from grounding on collapsed body work in the event of an accident. That could cause much merriment next to the fuel system. In addition to the battery terminal cover, I've fashioned a couple piece of heavy rubber (like an old inner tube) to tuck in between the battery positive terminal and the car body.

Go back to where you bought it. Make them fix it.
