Inexpensive way to redo rubber seals?
Restoring my 82' targa.
Did a quote at a couple places for all new seals and it looks like it will be close to $4k which is mind blowing for some magical rubber pieces. Anyone know of a way to get this cost down? Not trying to be cheap here but seems like it could be done some how.

Because of the Targa there's probably some magic with the roof seals, but I just did all of the rubber on my car over the winter including all glass seals and it was give or take $1300 bucks. There are some places that sell "kits" that reduce the price a bit as well.

This might get you started for under $250. (No affiliation)

$4k - that's cray-cray.
From our host: Windshield seal is $50, rubber door seals $50 each, miscellaneous door trim seals $150, rear targa top-to-bar seal $200, front seal $190 (from Dan Petchel), and rear targa bar-to-window seal $25, and then the impossible-to-replace targa window seal, $300 and a ton of cussing. Cowling seals (on the right in the eBay link) are like $7 each but are somewhat optional. Engine seal is $25 and hood seal is $50. Targa bar side seals are like $125 each, but those don't always need replacing (and if they do, you probably need a new top also, anyway, at a cost of $1600 rebuilt from Dan) That's $1000 if you don't need anything in the top (or a new top) -- $2600 if you also need a new top. A competent/confident DIY'er can do all of these with the exception of the windshield and targa window seals quite easily, with a minimum of tools and glue. I've changed all mine myself, just takes time and patience. Just take inventory of what you want to change and start adding to cart in Pelican Parts.

Our Host used to sell a complete kit. It was about $1,800 from memory. (not 100% sure about this and it would have been years ago)
With seals you get what you pay for. I always go Original Porsche if available.
