14 pin connector in a 1970 T
I am putting I got a motor back in my 1970 T and always figured that someone had problems with the 14 pin connector but after closer inspection is doesn't look like it ever had the connector. Should it have one?

Definitely should have 2 14 pin connectors unless someone made major modifications.
One for the through body harness to connect to in the middle of the rear fuse panel, and another one at the back of the fuse panel for the engine harness to connect to. Your photo looks like just the cover is in place and the male pin housing is gone along with all the wires!

Our host sells the male connector as a kit. Just search for it.
Not cheap... Porsche doesn't sell the pieces separately so you will get 14 new male pins as well. (I might buy them from you if you don't need them, I bring them in from Germany for my harnesses) You should probably try to find the existing ones somewhere under the fuse panel! I would suggest you unplug the other 14 pin connector and just remove the fuse panel from the car with its wiring harness attached to sort it all out.

There is nothing under the fuse panel. After closer inspection it looks like the connector had problems so they cut the wires at both ends and spliced the wires together. I think I have a newer model 14 pin male connector so if I can find it I would just need the female plug to splice the wires back to.

I can find connectors for 1978 and up. Are they the same as a 1970 connector?

Male and female 14 pin plugs are the same from 70 to say past '78
Even into the '90's. I don't know how your wires were spliced to make only one connector unless they spliced the through body harness to the fuse panel wires leaving just a single male plug for the engine harness.

It looks like the wires that came from both sides of the connector were butt spliced together. My guess would be that something went wrong with the connector and they bypassed it.

Found my 1981 connector and it is a 12 pin not the 14 that I need. Anyone have a 14 pin for a reasonable price? I can sing and dance for it!
How about an even trade for a 12 pin that has not been altered?
