Headlamp Upgrade help

Guys new to the Forum and new to 911 Ownership.

Bought a beautiful 83 911 SC recently and wanted to do the headlamp upgrade to remove the sugar scoop style US spec lamps.

While living in Germany last month I purchased a set of 964 headlamps, which I was told would fit my SC perfectly.

I just took the car apart last night and the fitment and size are totally different.

Is it possible to get them to fit or should I look in another direction.

Please help, below are a few pictures.

Thanks

964 lamp

Take a pic of the front side. You may have H4s. IF you do you can upgrade the bulbs with appropriate relays unless they are already installed.

Your "new" lights are H5's, same as on my 89. They should fit no problem. The headlight carrier bolts up to the 4 tabs showing in headlight bucket. You do need the H5 trim ring.

H5s require different sockets, they are 9004 sockets. You should be able to source easily, our host might have them, or just google them. You will have to splice them into your harness.

H5s are unfortunately not really an upgrade, except for appearance. They look a lot like H4s, but their beam pattern is inferior, and the assemblies are plastic, so it's iffy to run uprated bulbs, there have been allegations of heat melting the plastic. Search this forum for those stories.

All that aside, as C&D said, they should mount right up to the four tabs in the headlight bucket - the H5s that came on my '86 did - but it doesn't look like there are mounting brackets on your H5 housings. Did the late H5s mount like H4s with just the single bottom screw? Looks like you might need to get creative to make this work.

I think your h5 are missing the rear part to bolt to fender bucket.

Pelican offers this adapter kit. However, that won't work for you, as you need a male connector on the side that plugs into your harness. So you'd need to buy 3 double male spade connectors. Either that or buy this kit, also, and cut the male ends off for use on the other harness kit. Perhaps these plug ends are sold separately?

I agree the connector / wiring needs to match, but the headlights will fit. I don't think OP is missing any parts of brackets - perhaps it is camera angle?. Pics of connector and bracket
