Vandalized!

Parked the car at the local DMV for an hour.

Returned to find that some low-life trash had literally ripped the Porsche center cap off one of my BBS wheels. Die mongrel scum.

Anybody happen to have one of these sitting on a shelf, or have a lead where I might find one? Guessing these are 80s vintage, so not too confident of finding one. They are beautifully made, so hacking one together does not seem to be an option.

Yours royally pi$$ed, and ready to take down anyone who comes near my car with nefarious intent.

Man I feel your pain, T.

That sucks in a big way.
I'd call Wheel Enhancement and see if they could give you any leads.
I bet those are pretty rare suckers too.
Best of luck,

Ernie's Alloys in Florida (I think Miami - they advertise in Pano each month) can send you a used BBS center piece (the silver, "big bolt" piece), no problem (BTDT!).

The problem you will have is with the emblem in the center - looks like something that was custom made (maybe out of a modified Fuchs hubcap??)

If you find a used BBS center piece, it likely will have just the standard "BBS" emblem in the middle.

Tony, I'm sorry to hear that. Which DMV was this, so I know to never park my car there? I usually go to the one on Franconia Rd., but don't need to for a while. Call Albert at Ian's.

As we speak, it is having a hole drilled into it, and gold chain attached . . .

It was the DMV in Vienna.
Suspect it was some kid who now has a Porsche crest room ornament.

Who's Albert, and where is Ian's???

They're a used parts place in FL and seem to be able to find all sorts of oddball stuff. Tell him I sent you.

you should talk to the DMV, might be cameras on the parking lot, plus their insurance might cover it. I have had buddies have companies insurance cover this kind of stuff when their cars were parked in the lots for meetings.

Sorry to hear this.

The gold section of the cap looks identical to the ones I had on my 1985 BMW 635. They were on the metric wheels the car (and many of its day) came with stock. I believe they were BBS's.

Maybe this will help you hunt one down if you can get the "bolt" somewhere else?

I don't think it will be that big a deal. There's enough wheel places or Porsche dismantlers that somebodies got that center cap laying around. You can email them your picture and let them check for a match.
I guess the next thing you'll want is for me to tell you how to drive it.
