Picked up a modified '74 911 - it begins

Posted a thread earlier looking for advice on valuating the car here: 1974 911 - What's it worth?

Ended up pulling the trigger on it. Here is how she sits today:

Plans are to start looking for parts, I'd like to swap in a 3.0 w/ webbers and a 5-speed 915, currently it's a 2.2 w/ webbers and a 4-speed 915.

She looks like she could slip through a brick wall - I appreciate the smooth curves and all black coloring.

I had a 74 and I loved it...it is simple to work on...so your self proclaimed Frankenstein will be fun to convert to your taste of Porsche.

I don't think i"ll be changing much about the appearance, although I'd like to try a duck tail. My work will mostly be on fixing up the interior a bit, and swapping out the motor, transmission, and suspension. Bought a 2 post lift for my garage right after I bought the Porsche, eager to try it out!

A '77 930 tail would look great too. Personally, I think the 930 bodied cars look best with the '77 930 tail....

awesome

A DUCK TAIL WITH THIS CAR WOULD BE AWESOME!

A Duck would add so much more personality to this car. Take a look at some of the guys cars on this site with the wide body and duck tail...they are awesome looking...

If I could get a ducktail on my 930 I would do it...

I agree, a ducktail would look awesome. The car looks amazing as is though. Still waiting to pull the trigger on my first 911.

Congrats on the purchase of the car and the lift. I am amazed how much use I get out of my lift (did my 3rd engine drop 2 days ago)! Your car looks amazing, great paint. Mine is black as well but no nearly as shiny. Here is my lift in action.

I purchased a 76 with no engine and tranny so I wasn't far off from your travels. It has been a great experience. Interesting though, why did they put a 2.2 in your car, I didn't think the 74 could be purchased with a 2.2.

The one thing I would keep my eyes out for on your car is rust, the 74 isn't galvanized.

Oh, and yes, go for the duck tail, it'll work well on your modified! Welcome to the club!

Space the wheels out just a bit if possible. Good looking car.

X2 for the duck. And spacers. A widebody duck is nice (Looking in Jack Olsen's direction...)

Looks great.

Long term, I'd add (if it was me) some different side mirrors to the list, and an H4 upgrade.

Congrats! Add me to the "yes" on the ducktail. Also like the idea of chrome H4s. And keep the chrome trim around the windows...

LOL how we all love to "help" people with our opinions.

Loving the feedback, thanks guys. In addition to my duck tail plans I"ll keep an eye out for chrome-trimmed H4's, and I've been looking through threads trying to figure out what mirrors would look best, I agree the current ones aren't my favorite.

I'd love to backdate the car, but I don't think a long hood conversion is in the budget, not this year anyway.

If I've got webber 40's on my current 2.2, can they be reused if I swap in a 3.0? just rejet them? Also, I don't have a fuel pressure regulator, not an aftermarket one anyway, and my return fuel line is not utilized, is that something I need to be at all concerned about?
