Pelican OEM Branded fuel lines, trustworthy?
Hi Guys,
I am in the process of doing a top end build and the workshop have noticed that the fuel lines look pretty bad. The genuine Porsche ones are about $800 but the Pelican Parts supplied OEM branded ones are about $500. I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with the OEM ones of if I can save my $300? Thanks Stewart

Are they weeping or wet?
If not, save it for when you get back down under and find a company that can redo them in braided stainless steel but have the original fitting crimped and positioned correctly. Semi-Truck hose repair shops can do this. The real difficult one is in the tunnel. Just my 2 cents.

Check the actual manufacturer. I would only trust Continental (ContiTech) or Veritas for rubber fuel hoses or combination assemblies. Do NOT use Cohline. There is thread here that talks about a rash of failures (cracking/leaking) on braided lines, and Cohline has been less than helpful. Of course, steel braided lines lines are good as well, but don't forget that the fuel runs through an inner rubber hose there also (steel braiding is on the outside), so the manufacturer of that inner-tube matters.

Doh! Really Cohline? FUDGE! That is what the dealer sent me for the evap box in the Frunk.
Well, it is not a hi-pressure line so I think I will be okay but that really sucks PAG would sell defective products. Geez.

There is a forum member(name slips my mind at the moment) who makes very high quality SS replacement lines.

The Porsche stuff has been sitting on the shelf for 25 years getting old. I have a hard time seeing either for value. Fresh high pressure hose and injection pressure clamps and there is no more concern.
A year from now, neither PP or Porsche will stand warranty for dry rot failure. Bruce |

I think Len is pretty much retired, tried to get him to do some lines for me as he's only 1/2 hour away.
He said he is busy spending his time in his house up North. I need the NLA "J" line on my supply side that has a nick in it. Any other ideas?

![]() "G" - I am here........ Honestly, I don't recall speaking with you. Did you call the shop and talk with me in person? I make up fuel & oil hoses regularly, and even made a set (2) days ago that went out overnight to Portland OR. Yes, it may take a while if I am travelling or up north with no cell or Internet, but usually I get messages by the end of the day. If this is what you need........ ![]() ......I do have a replacement. I will look for a photo & post it. In the meantime, I am happy to help you or anyone else, but please email me. I stand corrected
Len:
My apologies; we spoke back in June and this is a part of your e-mail correspondence. Guess I took it to literally "I cannot buy these fittings so the only way is for you to send me your original part and I will remake it. I am retired and not often at the shop so I could do this while you wait." Should have gone back and looked at our conversation before I quoted you as being out of the business.. Anyway, You are on my list to drop off my hoses after the driving season!
