Tracing car history

Does anyone know how I can trace the history of my car eg number of previous owners (their details), garage originally supplied from, factory options fitted etc.

My car was imported from Switzerland in 1998 (I'm in the UK). It has no service book and has undergone a full repaint (colour change) hence no underbonnet sticker showing option codes.

Is their any Porsche dept which can provide any of this information from the chassis number (or don't they want to know about old stuff?)

PCGB (did I get the acronym right?) or the factory should be able to tell you about your car based on VIN.
